The Rainy Week in Review

What? You missed reading Patch some day this week? Here's a quick guide to some of our top stories from the week gone by.

Rain, rain, rain was the theme of the week. Nevertheless, we at Patch found plenty of other important, engaging and fun stories to report on. Here are some of the week's highlights. 

On Monday, we ran a profile of City Council's newest member, Pauline Cutter. 

We also reported that BART would be swearing in four chaplains—a very short story that got a whopping 84 comments from readers.

Also on Tuesday, we reported on the pending vote by the San Leandro Unified School District Board of Education on eliminating one physical education prep period in elementary school. The Board ended up voting 5-2 to eliminate the period.

In other, less-than-uplifting, budget-cutting news, we reported on a forum held by Alameda County to discuss the county's dire finances

In our Wednesday Moms Talk column, Patch's local Parent Council took up the issue of . 

Also on Wednesday, we reported on a federal appeals court's decision in favor of Faith Fellowship Foursquare Church in its lawsuit against the city over a zoning issue.  

On Thursday, Patch photographer AJ Flores shared photos from Tuesday night's Showtyme benefit concert at San Leandro High School. 

On Friday, we wrote about the California Conservatory Theatre's heartwarming performance of Almost, Maine. The play is showing Sunday afternoon and next weekend—your last chance to see it.

Patch contributor Jenna Humphreys made a huge sacrifice and got a massage at Natural Rhythms Healing Hut so that she could report to readers on her experience. She also shares some background about the Hut's owners.
