Chamber of Commerce honors local business people and installs new board.

All that was missing was the red carpet as more than 150 of the city's movers and shakers came out Thursday night for the Chamber of Commerce installation dinner at the San Leandro Senior Center.

Among those honored were outgoing board chair Hank Sullivan and incoming chair Gaye Quinn.

State Senator Ellen Corbett (D-San Leandro) and Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan helped hand out a series of awards.

Software entrepreneur Patrick Kennedy was named business person of the year for pushing his $3 million project.

Manuel Berber and his family-owned were named business of the year.

Chiropractor Sally Scrutchin was honored as ambassador of the year for her work in making the chamber better known in the community.
