UPDATE: San Leandro Resident Killed in Collision Wednesday Morning Identified

The Alameda County Coroner's office today identified a bicyclist killed crossing a San Leandro street Wednesday morning as Fred Stevens, 66, of San Leandro.

Stevens was crossing Marina Boulevard shortly before 11 a.m. when he was hit by a car, San Leandro police Lt. Jeff Tudor said.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Tudor.

On Wednesday, Aug. 28, around 10:54 a.m., San Leandro Police Department received calls regarding a traffic collision on the 1000 block of Marina Boulevard.

The collision involved a bicyclist and a car.

Officers arrived on scene, and discovered the cyclist had been hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross Marina Boulevard.

Paramedics transported the cyclist to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The cyclist was a 66-year-old San Leandro resident.

The incident is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
