San Leandro Population Grew By 0.8 Percent Last Year
New state reports shows San Leandro's population now tops 86,000
San Leandro's population grew by 0.8 percent last year.
Figures released by the state Department of Finance show San Leandro gained about 700 residents, increasing its population to 86,666 as of Jan. 1.
San Leandro is now the fifth largest of Alameda County's 14 incorporated cities. It's similiar in size to Livermore.

Oakland remains the largest city in the county with more than 399,000 residents. The smallest city is Emeryville with 10,269, just behind Piedmont's 10,889.
The only city in Alameda County that experienced a decrease in population in 2012 was Albany, which dropped by 0.2 percent.

Dublin had the second highest growth rate in California with 6.8 percent.
Alameda County's population grew by 1.2 percent to 1,548,681.
California's population increased by 0.8 percent to 37,966,471.
