Repaving Project Scours Begier Avenue

Barring rain or other unforeseen interruptions the work should be finished later in the week. Think a street needs resurfacing in your neighborhood? Leave a comment.

A section of Begier Avenue was scraped down to the dirt level last week in preparation for repaving a long block from Bancroft Avenue to Chetland Road.

Big earthmoving trucks slowed traffic on Bancroft Avenue  and heavy equipment chased the vehincles off Begier Avenue while the work was underway.

City of San Leandro engineering inspector Jerry Maughan said the project should be finished by the end of this week.

This photo gallery captures the stage of the work where paving crews had scraped the old roadbed down to the dirt level. Maughan said after this, dry concrete would be rototilled into the dirt to create a stable surface before the asphalt is poured.
