Lanes along I-880 between Hegenberger Road in Oakland and Marina Boulevard in San Leandro will be closed to widen a High Occupancy Vehicle lane, according Caltrans.
The work begins Sunday night and will entail reconstructing the Davis Street and Marina Boulevard overcrossings.
Caltrans will restripe the roadway and place concrete barriers on the shoulder of southbound I-880 from Davis Street to Marina Boulevard. Crews will also place concrete barriers on on-ramps and off-ramps at the Davis Street and Marina Boulevard exits. Trees will also be removed at the interchanges, Caltrans said.
Various lanes and ramps will be closed during the roadwork.
According to Caltrans, lane closures will take place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Sunday night through Friday morning, and from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday night to Saturday morning.
Ramps will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. However, one exit on either Davis Street or Marina Boulevard will stay open, Caltrans said.
Caltrans advises motorists to expect delays and to drive cautiously through the construction zone.
