Heartburn And Hangovers? Photos Of Suds & Sausage

Good weather, great food and drink, free kids' area, draw revelers to downtown festival.

Another Sausage and Suds festival has receded into memory, putting a smile on a Sunday that had started with a across town.

But on Parrott Street, the heart of the city's downtown, the streets were blocked off and a band shelter formed the focal point of attention.

The beer tent in front of the was packed most of the day, as revelers ate and drank in the shade.

Food tents lined both sides of the street. Judging from the length of the lines, Moe's BBQ on Wheels was the crowd favorite.

A free children's play area, sponsored by the San Leandro high-tech firm, OSIsoft, kept the youngsters busy bouncing and rock climbing.

The festival was organized by Lawrence Allphin and 150 volunteers who put on the event under the auspices of the Downtown Association of San Leandro.

Don't forget that Wednesday evening Parrott Street will be blocked off again for the downtown Farmer's Market, that runs for just three more weeks.
