  • Why Go: Take advantage of $2 Wednesdays and bring the family to see the Oakland A's play against the Cleveland Indians.

GOLDEN TEA GARDEN

  • Where/When: Golden Tea Garden in downtown Hayward; Wednesday through Sunday
  • Why Go: Celebrate Mother's Day weekend with your family at a unique tea room with an indoor garden atmosphere. It even offers a "Wee Tea Service" for ages 8 and under.

  • Where/When: San Leandro Civic Center Plaza; Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

OPEN HOUSE FOR GIFTED CHILDREN'S PROGRAM

  • Where/When: 1202 Lincoln Ave., Alameda; Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Come and see if the individualized education and enrichment programs offered by Co-Op for Gifted Children are a good fit for your kids. The open house includes a site tour, meeting staff, asking questions, activities/games, raffle and a free picnic.
