Where/When: Children's Fairyland in Oakland; Saturday and Sunday shows at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Why Go: The Storybook Puppet Theatre will bring "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" to life in a unique puppet show. Before or after the show, check out all of the whimsical storybook sets, rides and friendly animals throughout the ten-acre park on the shores of Oakland’s Lake Merritt.

Where/When: Habitot Children's Museum in Downtown Berkeley; Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: Check out a museum especially made for children ages 7 and under. Plus, this Sunday there is a Black History Month Celebration with a special wall exhibition to learn about famous African-Americans from the past and present, storytelling, music and interactive activities.

Where/When: Zocalo Coffeehouse in San Leandro; Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why Go: This is more than a coffee shop. Zocalo offers amenities such as a family-friendly kids play area, free wireless internet access, a game table and a wide range of beverages and pastries, so everyone in your family will enjoy this little escape from home.
