Why Go: This music festival features over 22 artists.

Where/When: , 1933 Davis St.; Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy Drake’s local brews while raising funds for the San Leandro Scholarship Foundation, which grants scholarships to graduating high school students.

Pricing: $5 donation; $15 for tasting glass and three beers

Where/When: 16 Barnes Ct, Hayward (Hayward Animal Shelter); Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Pets of all kinds, from fuzzy to scaly, are available for adoption.

Pricing: Free to attend; adoption fee may apply

          

Where/When: 2086 NewPark Mall, Newark (second floor near Food Court and Macy's); Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

Why Go: You can help save up to three lives with one donation of whole blood. Also, donors get a coupon for free food from Mimi’s Café. Just be sure that the rest of your weekend is mellow; the Red Cross recommends avoiding alcohol for 24 hours after donating.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton; Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.           

Why Go: Perhaps the largest Scottish celebration in the world, this festival is complete with bagpipes, kilts, beef pies, whisky, log-throwing, rugby, and more.
