Broken Fire Hydrant Floods Residential Street Saturday Night

Alameda County Fire Department responded to the rupture, which caused a geyser 25 feet high to spout on Montreal Street.

On Saturday night residents near the corner of Montreal Street and London Avenue in San Leandro were kept awake by a ruptured fire hydrant.

The Alameda County Fire Department responded to the scene to shut off the valve to the hydrant, which had caused an estimated 25-foot-high geyser that was flooding the roadway.

Witnesses say they believe a car that ran into the hydrant.
