Armed Robbery Suspects Caught With Stolen 'Bling'

A prompt report of a stickup on Bancroft Avenue Thursday yielded a quick arrest, San Leandro police say.

 

Two men who allegedly robbed a San Leandro man at gunpoint and ripped a gold chain from around his neck were arrested about 30 minutes later after the victim filed a police report.

Police say the incident occurred at about 5 pm on May 2, when the 21-year-old victim was approached by two men in the parking lot at 138th Street and Bancroft Avenue.

Police say one of the suspects was allegedly armed with a handgun. The suspects  allegedly ripped a gold chain from the victim’s neck and fled toward Bancroft Avenue. 

The victim immediately reported the incident. Approximately 30 minutes later, San Leandro detectives located the suspects in Oakland. Police say they recovered the stolen property arrested two men for committing the robbery.

The two men in custody are:

  • Tamayo Bernardo, a 31 year old male from Livermore;
  • Eli Perez, 23 year old male from Oakland
