SAN LEANDRO, CA -- On Feb. 15, postal carrier Tracey Herron became concerned.
An elderly woman on her route — which runs along Sybil Avenue west of Bancroft — hadn’t picked up her mail in several days.
Troubled by this uncharacteristic behavior, Herron knocked on doors to see if any of the neighbors knew anything.
Luckily, Ed and Martha Portoni were home and they called the police.
In this Patch video Herron explains what happened. (The victim, who remains hospitalized, will not be identified.)
