Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas everyone!
I am writing to ask for your support of the making of the performance film of Brian Copeland's NOT A GENUINE BLACK MAN. This courageous project tells the story of Brian and his family in the 1970's as San Leandro struggled to become the integrated city that it is today.
Brian has created a show that illustrates why racism and segregation are not just big political ideas but painful personal experiences. His one man show began at The Marsh in San Francisco almost 10 years ago and he has performed it hundreds of times. It is time for the performance to be memorialzed in film.
To do this Brian needs to raise a lot of money to pay for the three night, three camera production - including, camerapeople, sound, lights, editing, and DVD production. He wants the film to be available to schools and community groups. This will be a not-for-profit venture in partnership with The Marsh.
Brian started a kickstarter campaign a few weeks ago and it is quickly wrapping up. Please support the making of this film by contributing to Brian's kickstarter campaign. If you aren't sure about kickstarter but still want to contribute you can do so by sending a check:
