Taqueria Los Pericos Is Readers' Choice

The downtown shop drew 50 percent of the 108 votes case, which is remarkable given that there were 14 choices.

But the shop's location in Pelton Center may be the prime factor in its popularity and it faces strong challengers.

As reader Jerry White said in a comment: "I go to Los Pericos in Pelton Center more often because it's convenient for me, but (Taqueria) Guadalajara is better."

Indeed, was the surprise in the list, garnering 19 percent of the vote and strong comments of support.

"I have lived in San Leandro practically my whole life and I have been to all the locations listed in this poll," wrote Sari Pierre. "Hands down the best burritos  . .  and the biggest are from Taqueria Guadalajara on E.14th St."
