Sprouts & Shutters: The Game Alley to Close; Ruffles and Rust Vintage Now Open

SAN LEANDRO

A new Mexican restaurant has opened in San Leandro. El Portal began cooking up dishes on Friday afternoon. It's located at 2028 Lewelling Blvd. in the shopping center anchored by Food Net. It's open from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. seven days a week.

The Eddie Bauer clothing store at the Marina Square Shopping Center in San Leandro has closed. A sign on the store last week informed customers of the closure and asked them to visit other nearby Eddie Bauer shops.

CASTRO VALLEY

The Game Alley on Redwood Road in Castro Valley is closing its doors by the end of February. A message on the store's website says Game Alley will be selling its inventory during its final weeks of operation. It states the store will close once all its inventory is sold.

Ruffles and Rust Vintage is now operating in Castro Valley. The shop specializes in selling rescued and refurbished antique furniture and decor. The store is located at 2568 San Carlos Ave. It's open the second Sunday of every month or by appointment.

A portrait framing store is now open in Castro Valley. Door to Door Framing set up shop last fall. Owner Tracy Quattrin relocated her business from Las Vegas. Her store is at 2419 Irma Way. It's open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

A retired accountant has started up a part-time business in Castro Valley. Charlie Goldie, who worked as an accountant for 15 years for an Emeryville company, has set up a business for companies that want someone to do accounting work such as sales tax receipts and bank accounts for one or two days a month.
