Video: Shoppers Flock Bayfair For Last-Minute Gifts

Despite the hectic atmosphere on Christmas Eve, most shoppers and drivers seemed to remain cordial both in the stores and out in the parking lots at Bayfair Center.

With one goal in mind — getting gifts wrapped and under the tree — many busy shoppers bustled about at the malls on Dec. 24 for some last-minute Christmas Shopping.

At Bayfair Center in San Leandro, the parking lots were filled as folks made their way to stores such as Target to pick up these eleventh-hour presents.

It was there where the check-out lines stretched though the store with security and employees guiding shoppers to the next available registers.

Despite the hectic atmosphere, most shoppers and drivers seemed to remain cordial both in the stores and out in the parking lots.

Check out the video above to see just how packed it was at Bayfair Center on Monday afternoon.

Christmas Eve I remembered I needed some kind of step or ladder to accommodate a rather short guest using my very tall guest guest bed Christmas night. I went online..checked "Bed Bath and Beyond"...found exactly what I needed: A folding step. The "local store" site let me know it was available at Bayfair store so I ordered it online. Three hours later I went to Bayfair, cruised a short time and was able to go into a spot that was just vacated right in front of the store. Went to customer service. (There were LONG lines at the check stands but three employees kept the Customer service desk moving rapidly) My step-stool was there and within 10 minutes had paid the very friendly sales person and was back in my car.
THEN the fun started. Parking lot traffic was so heavy and impacted that it took at least 20 minutes to navigate the two blocks from the front of Bed, Bath past the Target parking lot to the street where I could turn right and get back to Hesperian. From then on I was home free. Moral: when possible, shop online and pick up at customer service. And allow plenty of time to get out of the parking lot. Happy New Year

And you think that plunking down a very low income housing project in the middle of cheap housing inRead More San Leandro is more like Castro Valley? or more like West/East Oakland. It's more like the latter. Can't wait for the drive-by shootings and muggings to ratchet up when we thrown away $9M in tax dollars on building a new downtown SL BART ghetto.

It is unfortunate the Bridge has been unable to stop all crime in Oakland. Sadly, that lesson willRead More probably apply to San Leandro too.

Leah, do you have the authorization from Disney for the use of the copyrighted Dumbo character youRead More use for your blog? I thought that the policy of Patch was to deny access to non-authorized materials such as this.
