San Leandro Sells Fiber Loop On YouTube

The data highway that will make the city attractive to Internet-based businesses is touted in a video extolling the advantages of working and living here.

San Leandro is using YouTube to tout its advantages as a destination for business.

A video centered on the being installed by Patrick Kennedy of OSIsoft extolls the virtues of living, working and locating a business here, including:

  • a new network that will deliver Internet speeds 2,000 times as fast as a standard connection,
  • a city with one quarter of its area zoned for industry, and
  • attractive, reasonably priced homes.

It's all part of Kennedy's Lit San Leandro branding effort.

What do you think of the city's pitch?

Trying to play the video results in the message “This video is private” and I cannot view the video.

I'm mystified; played earlier. Let me check.

Works good now, and video presents an attractive San Leandro for business. Thanks for fixing it.

Earlier today I posted the following on another thread: "Yes, Lit San Leandro will do a lot for businesses, especially big business. But what is being done by the city, the chamber of commerce and others to help bootstrap people who want to start a business? Is there an incubator program some place where someone can start and grow a new enterprise?" Since that post I learned from Jeff Kay at City Hall that NextSpace, http://nextspace.us/, may be considering creating a share space facility for startup entrepreneurs in San Leandro. The company has these offices in Santa Cruz, San Jose and San Francisco. I've sent an email to the CEO and hopefully I'll get a reply soon.
