San Leandro Business Leaders Will Gather Tonight

Annual Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner is sold out as city bigwigs get together to start the new year.

If you haven't already reserved your seat at the Chamber of Commerce Installation Dinner I've got just one word for you: fuggedaboudit.

The event is sold out according to Chamber officials who are pleased at the outpouring of business, civic and political leaders who will witness the swearing in of the organization's new board.

Patch has been told that speechifying will be kept to a minimum to instead devote time to honoring and featuring local innovators.

These will include Tracy McSheery of Phasespace, the San Leandro firm that has made a name for itself in the world of movie special effects.

Representatives from Lit San Leandro will provide an update on the installation of the high-speed fiber optic loop that is the brainchild of OSIsoft founder Dr. Patrick Kennedy.

Major sponsors of the event include Madison Marquette, owner of Bayfair Mall; Kaiser Permanente, whose new San Leandro medical center is slated to open in 2014; and the Innesfree Companies, which must rethink its approach to the Village Marketplace project in light of the .

The event will be held from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm Thursday at the San Leandro Senior Center, 13909 East 14th Street.

How do you feel about San Leandro's business prospects in 2013? What's working? What needs fixing?

A "Tip of the Hat" to all the difference makers in San Leandro! Whether you have a seat at the table tonight or not, I'd like to offer this poem to mark the lovely occasion:
Many says, I want change Want change in my time Want change in my life I want a change badly I want change, many say They pray for a change They wish for a change They look for a change But they will not change They just wait for change It never happens to them It will never ever happen By mere prayer or wish It must start from inside With tons of determination Change is not so easy It takes lots of time So it needs determination The will to make change The will to see change Then only things will change Then only time will change Then only life will change So go and get change To see the bliss of change --Kranthi Pothineni

And you think that plunking down a very low income housing project in the middle of cheap housing inRead More San Leandro is more like Castro Valley? or more like West/East Oakland. It's more like the latter. Can't wait for the drive-by shootings and muggings to ratchet up when we thrown away $9M in tax dollars on building a new downtown SL BART ghetto.

It is unfortunate the Bridge has been unable to stop all crime in Oakland. Sadly, that lesson willRead More probably apply to San Leandro too.

Rowena Peñalba June 18, 2013 at 11:27 pm
It's slightly used but I don't remember where I bought it from. I don't see any brand name on it. IRead More just priced it based on the lowest one available on Amazon. If you're interested, make me an offer. Maybe we can agree on it. Thanks for your inquiry.

Leah, do you have the authorization from Disney for the use of the copyrighted Dumbo character youRead More use for your blog? I thought that the policy of Patch was to deny access to non-authorized materials such as this.
