Nurses Strike Sutter Hospitals in East Bay

It's the latest brief walkout in a contract struggle between unionized nurses and the Sutter Health chain. Hospitals in San Leandro, Castro Valley, Berkeley and Oakland affected.

Bay City News

Nurses represented by the California Nurses Association today started a Christmas Eve strike at nine Bay Area hospitals over contract disputes.

The one-day strike stems from disputes with Sutter Health and HCA Healthcare over issues including health benefits, sick pay and staffing levels.

An unknown number of nurses are participating in the strike at hospitals owned by Sutter Health, including:

  1. three Alta Bates Summit Medical Center facilities in Berkeley and Oakland
  2. Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley and its affiliate San Leandro Hospital
  3. Sutter Solano Medical Center in Vallejo
  4. Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch.

The hospitals together employ about 5,000 nurses who are represented by the National Nurses Union, formerly known as the California Nurses Association.

I agree. You can get rid of the pretentious self-promoting teachers as well, led by their stupid unions. Nurses hate to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Think their bogus strike was time to suit their own selfish purposes? They'll spin it as "we need to show management we mean business" but the truth is, they'd all like to have some days off during the holidays. And now they can "blame" management for it.

Leah, do you have the authorization from Disney for the use of the copyrighted Dumbo character youRead More use for your blog? I thought that the policy of Patch was to deny access to non-authorized materials such as this.
