Multimedia Students Break Fast on Cesar Chavez Day

The Season of Service ended Thursday on Cesar Chavez's birthday. It was also the final day in the Fast for Nonviolence carried out by the San Leandro Academy for Multimedia.

After 28 days of fasting and media that provoked conversations and sometimes arguments on campus and in our city, the final day of the Fast for Nonviolence is here. The San Leandro Academy for Multimedia hopes that it honored Cesar Chavez's fast and nonviolent struggle for justice.

Thursday, we broke our fast with a potluck meal after school, and our students were honored at an assembly.

We are grateful to Patch for giving us a place where San Leandro can see our work. We hope you enjoyed the videos, but most of all we hope that you have thought about accepting the differences in the people around you.

We end today with our final piece about spreading words of love and encouragement wherever you go and whoever you come across. Taking the simple step to say something nice can change the world, or at least your world, for the better.
