Free Torchiere Lamp Swap at the Downtown San Leandro Farmers' Market

 ,   Add to calendar
Parrott St & E 14th St San Leandro CA 94577  See map

Swap your old floor lamp for a new one, FREE!

Do you have a tall halogen floor lamp in your home? These lamps waste electricity, and are dangerous: they can overheat and start fires.

Bring your old lamp to our table at the Downtown San Leandro Farmers' Market on July 13th, 18th, or 25th, and we will give you a new fluorescent version- of the same quality and brightness- for FREE!

The lamp must have a 300 watt or greater halogen bulb, you must be a resident of Alameda, Contra Costa, or Marin Counties, and you must bring your Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) bill.

Call (510) 725-8597 or visit our website for more information! www.risingsunenergy.org

How is it Marga? Comparable or better than the one you relinquished?

David, your thesis that there's always demand for other people's money is cute, but wrong. There isRead More a huge demand for decent, safe, affordable housing for low income folks, like Bridge & Mercy provide. If they were creating hellholes, as you claim, there would be no demand, unless what the market provided was even worse. We both support Sec 8, but it only lines one of our pockets. Ironically, that's where your support for affordable housing ends. You sing the praises of your hard working tenants, but dehumanize our new neighbors at The Crossings. If your tenants moved to The Crossings would they suddenly transmogrify into "thugs"? You sell the lie that a well designed and managed multi-family building housing low income folks is by definition a "ghetto," without ever stepping away from your keyboard. Quite simply, you don't let facts get in the way. My hope for you is that one day you will hold yourself to the same level of intellectual discipline that you demand of others.

Really. There's no demand for other people's money. That's news to me. So, let's review. TheRead More Crossings are: 1) Using tax dollars to build new "affordable" housing units that have income limits approaching SL's median income. 2) The Crossings are "providing" housing that is affordable to supposedly fill a "need" for it. 3) There is no need for it because: a) there is ample housing stock in SL that is "affordable" to nearly all of the residents, b) SL is adjacent, and on mass transit lines to even more affordable housing. Those are the facts. Simple, economic facts, backed up by real estate data and area income levels (from the Census).
David June 20, 2013 at 06:31 am
Now let's draw conclusions: 1) As evidenced by Acorn and other housing projects in Oakland, a cityRead More much closer to SL than Castro Valley in that there is already affordable housing there etc, I point to the future of SL Crossings. First, there will be demand, and it is likely to be filled, as designed by "workers." (Just like Acorn, just like Cabrini Green was in Chicago). Then, a couple of drive by shootings later, those "workers" will leave in droves. (Just like Acorn, just like Cabrini Green). They will be replaced by thugs so that Bridge can get that rent roll. Just like Acorn, just like Cabrini Green. Just like practically everywhere else this has been attempted.

What brand is the pastry cutter?
Rowena Peñalba June 18, 2013 at 11:27 pm
It's slightly used but I don't remember where I bought it from. I don't see any brand name on it. IRead More just priced it based on the lowest one available on Amazon. If you're interested, make me an offer. Maybe we can agree on it. Thanks for your inquiry.

Can't remember what night this was, but recently we were startled by noises and decided it must haveRead More been fireworks at the coliseum.

it was a hundred times better...it is now useless!

I'm not a very regular viewer. Could you be a bit more specific about what changed recently (plusesRead More and minuses)? Thanks.
