You are invited to join the San Leandro Education Foundation (SLED) for an exciting evening focused on public education in San Leandro. The Foundation is hosting a free community screening of the documentary American Teacher to engage our community around issues we all care about - providing the necessary resources for our teachers and maintaining quality public schools.
The film takes a close look at the lives of school teachers across the country and the sacrifices they make to do what they love.
Following the screening there will be a short panel Q&A. Audience members will have the chance to interact with one another and those involved in local public education to discuss what our community can do to improve educational outcomes for our children and youth.
As a local nonprofit working to raise resources for students in the San Leandro Unified School District, we will also discuss SLED's accomplishments in the last year and what our vision is for how SLED can impact San Leandro public schools in the future.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the theater at San Leandro High School's Performing Arts Center. The film runs about 80 minutes.
