Exclusive Art Show: Life On Canvas With Pete Escovedo

EXCLUSIVE ART SHOW:
LIFE ON CANVAS WITH PETE ESCOVEDO
FRIDAY, JULY 15, 2011, 5:00 - 6:30PM

(OAKLAND, CA, July 7, 2011) -- Pete Escovedo has been synonymous with Latin Jazz for more than 50 years.  Born in Pittsburg, California, in the heat of July on the 13th of 1935, Pete will celebrate his 76th birthday with art and music.  At 18, he, along with brothers "Coke" and Phill, began his musical journey in Oakland, California, becoming one of the early pioneers of Bay Area Latin Jazz throughout Northern California.  They performed with numerous other musicians, establishing the Latin Rock and Latin Jazz scene in the San Francisco Bay Area, inspiring countless musicians to follow.

His love of music has taken center stage and has influenced his family quite naturally.  While he has established himself as a legendary percussionist and bandleader, recording and performing worldwide, throughout the years, he has always remained true to his second love: art and painting.

To describe his artwork is a challenge in and of itself.  His early works demonstrate experimentation with different art forms, from ink drawings and pastels to oils.  It is almost as if a number of artists worked on each piece.  Both Pete and his artwork have matured, and he is reluctant to part with his early works.  "My earliest pieces have become a part of me."

With a multitude of expressions and feelings, brightness and vividness, the definite motion of music and spirit of Latin heritage brings forth a muralistic form of painting.  He draws his inspiration from life experience, which reflects his family life and his spiritual being.  Truly a legend, role model and teacher, Pete Escovedo is on an incredible journey of music, art and life.

The artwork included in this press release are part of Pete Escovedo's private collection.  He will share the backstories that inspired approximately 30 pieces, which will be available for sale.   Learn about the one piece he eventually sold from his private collection.

Space is extremely limited.
