CCPA Announces First Annual Tony Award Benefit Party

Curtain Call Performing Arts (CCPA) will hold its first annual Tony Award Party June 12, integrating a new local art gallery, providing real world digital arts projects for San Leandro High School students, and raising funds for their assembly program. 

The red carpet affair debuts Sunday, June 12 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the new in downtown San Leandro. 

Curtain Call’s exclusive assembly program provides San Leandro Unifed School District (SLUSD) elementary and middle school students the chance to experience a Broadway style show for free. 

The party will also unveil the first ever CCPA “Besty” Awards for the 2009-2010 season, awarding the best performers and productions of the past year. CCPA has partnered with the San Leandro Academy for Multimedia (SLAM) at the high school for the awards.

Students will receive hands on digital arts experience producing video introductions of each CCPA “Besty” award, utilizing the new state-of-the-art SLHS Arts Education Center (AEC) production studios, green screen, video and sound recording technology.  Through this new partnership with SLAM, and continued focus on the “Gift of Broadway” program, CCPA is pioneering arts education outreach with local schools.     
 
“We are thrilled to announce our new partnerships in the community with Linen Life Art Gallery and the SLHS SLAM Academy,” said CCPA Artistic Director, Andrea Gorham.  “Local students in our community now have a real life digital arts project, and we have gained an incredible sponsor in Linen Life Art Gallery, a beautiful new artistic venue for San Leandro and the greater Bay Area.”
