San Leandro property owners can expect to see a flat $39 parcel tax on their next property tax bill following Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
The Contra Costa Times reports the school board voted 6-0 – with one member absent – to approve the new plan. Additionally, language added to board policy clarifies that “every parcel that does not qualify for a senior or disabled exemption will pay no more than $39, regardless of lot size or number of residential units on the parcel,” the Times reports.
Last November, voters approved Measure L, which allowed different tax rates for different types of parcels. Tuesday’s decision eliminates the tiered plans and brings it in line with state law.
