Alameda County’s newest library will have its grand opening at San Leandro’s REACH Ashland Youth Center, located at 16335 East 14th Street, on Jan. 15.
The center has program and activities for youth ages 11 through 24 such as: dance classes, college preparation tutorials, boxing classes and more.
The building also has a café, game room, computer lab and childcare center. In addition, there is also a career center where youth can get information about internships and jobs.
According to Alameda County Library spokesperson Marion Oldenhage, more than 1,900 young people have used the center’s services since it opened eight months ago.
