I live in Oakland but shop and spend time in San Lorenzo and San Leandro. Will circle about each time and keep an eye out. Cheak ALL City Shelters everyday. Call Animal Control for all 3 cities. You probably know this and have done many times already. Forgive my over-zealousness.

I have seen "lost dog" posters at veterinarian offices too. Someone might have found the dog and taken it to a vet.

I sincerely hope the dog will be found shortly but I am very unhappy with Patch. When I lost my bird (he has health issues in addition to being totally inept at surviving in the wild) and requested a "Breaking News Alert" I was told that lost pets were not of sufficient urgency as to qualify for such a posting. And as I write this I see there is a notice is out for a lost cat in Castro Valley... Fortunately I recovered my bird without serious injuries, no thanks to Patch.

I am sorry we let you down, Gale. If you email me I can send you a "how-to" so that if you or any neighbor has a lost pet in the future you can use Patch to post the item and possibly make a connection. It's one of the things we'd always like to do, and so we've created a tool so that Patch and pet owners can work together. My email is on top of the page if you want to drop me a note and get the tutorial.

The day before this article posted, I made a delivery to a home on Crespi Place off Ashland Avenue by the highway 238 overpass, and the family there had a Red Merle. I went back Wednesday night and asked if if it was their dog or if they found it, and they said it was their dog. I did not see the dog on my second visit to verify the exact markings, but I could here it inside. I will go back there and give them the picture with your contact information and try to see the dog again. I will print out this picture and give it to the other UPS drivers that drive in those areas. I suggest bringing pictures to the South San Leandro Post Office on E14th Street because 94580 and 94578 are delivered out of there. I will give one to my letter carrier today to bring back there. I don't know which Hayward post office delivers the Cherryland area. But if you give a picture to a carrier there, maybe they can tell you where it is and post one ther for you. We had a Blue Merle years ago. The Merles are beautiful, smart, and loaded with personality. Please post any news about your lost dog in the comments here as I will be getting email updates of any more comments on this article.

P.S. Exactly where did your dog go missing or was last seen?

I just forwarded this article to everyone I know in that area. Ask others to do the same. Good luck!
