Forum on Women's Economic Development with Congresswoman Barbara Lee

Congresswoman Barbara Lee will be hosting a forum on women’s economic development on Feb. 1 at Mills College in Oakland starting at 10 a.m.

The event will also feature a special dedication ceremony for the Shirley Chisholm U.S. Postal Service Forever Stamp with special guests including: Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Congresswoman Lynn Woosley, Belva Davis and Rosy Chu.

The Shirley Chisholm stamp honors Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman ever elected to Congress. Chisholm was a politician broke barriers of race and gender in the 1960s and 1970s, according to the USPS website.  She ran for president in 1972, making her the first African American and the second woman to seek the nomination of a major political party.
