Fear Overload Scream Park Hosts Sleepover Contest

An SF Bay Area haunted house holds a sleepover competition to see who can survive the horror all night long.

Fear Overload, California’s Haunted House Scream Park, announced Wednesday that they will be hosting a sleepover event that takes place inside their haunted houses. At 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 19, contestants will bring with them only a sleeping bag to survive the abyss at Fear Overload Scream Park.

During the challenge, contestants will need to explore the haunted houses to complete tasks and to avoid being eliminated. Furthermore, at different time intervals throughout the night, creatures and some of California’s most talented actors will be let loose inside these haunted houses.

Nathan Polanco, producer of Fear Overload Scream Park announced, “This sleepover contest has been designed to be so horrifying that we had to have strict emergency procedures to account for the possibility of heart attack and fear-induced delusion.”

Contestants are eliminated from the sleepover when they are either too horrified to continue or when they have failed to complete a time-sensitive task. Polanco also said that the contestants will be notified of their status by smart phone text messages, and that at any time, should a contestant feel too horrified to continue, he or she may shout or text a ‘safe word’ to be immediately evacuated from the haunted houses.

Beyond the Realms of Metal, a Santa Clara radio station, will be listening in to this sleepover event to witness the horror. Additionally, parts of the night will be filmed from discrete cameras to be watched online. The sleepover contest is to last approximately seven hours – until sunrise.

“Think of it like Survivor, but for Halloween,” says Polanco. “The bravest and most strategic soul will win. We have a grand prize in store for the winner who survives the horror to sunrise.” If you would like to have a chance to participate in Fear Overload’s Sleepover Challenge, you can submit an application here.
