All Aboard! at the San Leandro Historical Railway Society

The organization hosted its bi-annual open house over the weekend.

The San Leandro Historical Railway Society, which maintains the Davis Street Southern Pacific Passenger/Freight Station, hosted its bi-annual open house over the weekend. The event was deemed a success by the society.

HO scale and G and O gauge model railroads were operating and on display. Both days offered a special treat with live steam locomotives running in the garedn railroad exhibit. These model trains actually run on steam.

The railway museum is housed in the former San Leandro depot of the Southern Pacific Railroad, which was used as a passenger facility until World War II. The depot was moved from its original location when the society took over it over in 1988 to restore it and turn it into a museum.
