Town Hall meeting about SL Art

Allison and I just got back from a brain storming session at the San Leandro library sponsored by the City of San Leandro. The Mayor and a few council members were there as well as the City Manager. Fairly well attended by many artsy types, students, actors and such. Sounded very good.

S. L. City Hall wants to seriously ramp up Art in it's many varied forms within our city and will be putting forth much effort to make it be a priority. My guess is that there are a few of you thinking "Why don't they fix the streets and pick up the garbage and get rid of the bums and criminals?" For those of you who feel those things are a priority I would ask that you consider what happens to a city where art flourishes; it grows. People become more involved in it's nurturing and the bad things are corrected. You can't clean one spot in the middle of a dirty window without feeling the need to clean the rest of it. Art is an emotional expression of our culture and times. It brings people together in a constructive and positive way A Zeitgeist of sorts. Support the city's art community and see the city get better. Thanks for reading. Steve Modifer
