10 Bay Area Students Receive AFS Scholarships to Study Abroad

San Francisco Bay Area AFS Team awarded 10 local students scholarships to study abroad and become international ambassadors of cultural understanding and peace. The scholarship winners came from six different local High Schools. All students submitted videos describing their goals for their study abroad experience and awards were determined on a combination of merit, need, achievement, and leadership factors. Publicly submitted videos can be viewed on the local Bay Area AFS website: http://www.afsusa.org/san-francisco-bay/local-scholarship. Students will be studying all over the world in countries such as Holland, Spain, Turkey, Italy, France, Costa Rica, Argentina, Paraguay, and Japan.

Scholarship funds were raised by AFS San Francisco Bay Area Team volunteers to support local students studying abroad and experience intercultural learning, global competency, language proficiency, and future college and career benefits. The local AFS team is committed to continuing to support our local students studying abroad to encourage cultural understanding and peace.
