Robberies, Assaults Up, Burglaries Flat Through May

This week's police blotter includes a look at the San Leandro Police Department's year-to-date crime comparisons.

 

In addition to our regular weekly report, the chart above summarizes SLPD's comparative crime statistics through the end of May.

As the numbers show, 110 robberies have occured year to date, a 31 percent increase over 2011. A 23 percent increase in aggravated assaults brings their number for this period to 59.

Burglaries, another large crime category, were on par with last year during the five-month period, with 280 incidents reported.

Turning to the week of Sunday, June 17 through Saturday June 23, police made 63 arrests. Residents reported three assaults, 20 batteries, 36 burglaries and eight robberies.

Sunday, June 17th

A number of crimes kept SLPD on their toes today.  11 criminals were slapped with handcuffs.  Other crimes reported include: four batteries, six home burglaries, and one robbery.

A neighborhood disturbance on the 600 block of Lee Avenue was called in by a resident at 1:28 a.m.  Police made at least one arrest.

SLPD received a battery report at around 6:09 p.m. that happened on the 3400 block of Waterfall Way.  Police did not locate a suspect.

At 2:43 p.m. a resident reported a home burglary on the 15500 block of Harbor Way to police.  Police submitted a report.

Monday, June 18th           

Today’s crime blotter includes one residential and four auto burglaries, one assault and eight arrests.

Police recovered a stolen vehicle on the corner of Springlake and Ford Street at 1:41 a.m.  Police arrested the suspect.

Someone was arrested for public intoxication at 10:31 p.m. on the 15300 block of Washington Avenue.

Tuesday, June 19th

Seven batteries transpired across San Leandro today.  11 arrests, two residential and one auto burglary as well as one robbery were reported.

A resident on the 3800 block of Carmel Way reported a battery to police at 11:52 a.m.  A report was filed.

A reported burglary happened on the 14200 block of Nassau Road at 9:25 a.m. 

SLPD arrested a robbery suspect on the 1400 block of San Leandro Boulevard at 7:07 p.m.  A report was filed.

Wednesday, June 20th

No robberies or assaults were reported today. Six arrests, one battery, five auto and two residential burglaries were reported.

A battery was reported on the 1500 block of Aurora DrivePolice responded at 1:42 p.m. to investigate and file a report.

Police got a report about a burglary that occurred at 12:35 p.m. on the 1300 block of Post AvenueAn investigation was done and a report filed.

Thursday, June 21st

Crime blotter today includes: Seven arrests, five batteries, three robberies, one assault, four residential and four auto burglaries.

An assault with a deadly weapon allegedly took place on the 1000 block of MacArthur Boulevard at 2:04 a.m.  Police interviewed witnesses, investigated the incident and filed a report.

Someone was allegedly robbed on the 500 block of Diehl Avenue at 1:19 a.m.  Police responded and filed a report.

Police arrested a battery suspect on the corner of Creekside and Sweetwater Drive at 6:49 a.m.  Police investigated the incident and filed a report.

At 12:10 p.m. a burglary was reported on the 900 block of East 14th Street.

Friday, June 22nd

Hardly any crime happened today.  The police blotter only recorded one arrest and one auto burglary for the entire day.

A traffic related arrest happened at 1:24 a.m. on the corner of Marina Boulevard and Orchard Avenue.

Saturday, June 23rd

Police arrested eight.  Three batteries, three robberies, two residential and four auto burglaries were reported.

The 14600 block of Cypress Street was the scene of an alleged battery.  Police arrived at 12:28 a.m. a report was filed.

A robbery was reported on the 14800 block of East 14th Street 3:46 p.m.

SLPD received a burglary call at 3:50 p.m. on the 15500 block of Harbor WayA report was filed.
