A nuclear power plant at San Leandro marina? Some believed it; others thought it is was a bad, bad joke.
Some readers of the San Leandro Times were shocked when they picked up their paper yesterday to read that Acme Nuclear Power Co. was setting up in the marina on April 1.
No seriously, I was actually with someone who believed this. But before I heard the "how did this happen right under our noses?" reaction, I heard about the city phones ringing off the hook Thursday morning with irate residents — some wondering what the city was thinking authorizing the plant, others upset because they thought the joke was insensitive in light of the ongoing Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan.
I'm not very good with April Fool's Day jokes, so I thought I'd ask you all: what's the worst April Fool's Day joke you've heard, or fallen for? What's the best one?
