Hurlers Enjoy San Leandro's Disc Golf Course

Disc tossers take their sport seriously as a way to have fun and get exercise.

Chabot Park hosts one of San Leandro's overlooked gems -- a 9-hole disc golf course in which contestants toss circles of plastic in an effort to hit a series of markers in the fewest hurls.

The history of disc golf is a matter of conjecture but local aficionados insist that it's an inexpensive way to burn calories and have fun.

Patch recently caught up with San Leandro residents Brandon Taylor and Alex Torres and other players from Hayward and Alameda at Chabot Park, which is a small but respectable venue in the regional directory of disc golf courses.
