Poll Update: Bikers Loved Their 'Legendary' San Leandro Ride

Most who took our poll liked the bicycle parade that rode through San Leandro Friday night.

Despite some frustrations, San Leandro seemed to love the bike parade that rode through town Friday night and the cyclists certainly appreciated our attention, calling their ride “legendary” on an East Bay Bike Party blog posting.

“People from San Leandro cheered us on ride night, left positive comments on our Facebook page, and a few even promised to join us on future rides,” the posting said. “The police were super-helpful, blocking traffic and escorting us through San Leandro, and it was great to hear lots of Bike Partiers saying, “Thank you, officer,” throughout the evening.”

As an earlier version of this article reported, the "flash mob" of bicyclists stopped around 9:30 pm to rest and party at the old Albertson's site on East 14th Street across from Pelton Center on a course that took them through town.

Not all was hugs and kisses, however. Bike Partiers, if you are listening, the individuals who relieved themselves in the bushes on Lee Street were not cheered by the homeowner -- who corresponded with Patch.

Some folks did write Patch complaining about the noise from the boom boxes on some bikes.

But as the poll accompanying the story suggests, most of the folks who witnessed the event took it for the lark it was meant to be

"I joined them for a bit," one resident wrote on the Estudillo Estates Neighborhood Association Newsletter. "A couple of hundred bikers, drinking and having a good time, but also civil (obeying traffic laws, respecting other traffic, etc.).

So far no one has uploaded or contributed pictures of this “legendary” ride.
