Update: Police Say Lover Stabbed 15-Year-Old Myrna Umanzor To Death

19-year-old Henry Leon of Oakland is the prime suspect in the killing of a 15-year-old San Leandro High School freshman with whom he had fathered a child.

Police are looking for 19-year-old Henry Leon of Oakland who allegedly stabbed 15-year-old Myrna Umanzor to death Friday night in San Leandro’s first murder of the year.

Authorities say Leon fathered a nine-month-old child with Umanzor, who was a freshman at San Leandro High School.

Police say Leon is driving a dark blue, 2004 Cadillac Escalade with black rims and California license plate 5SBE608.

The tragedy began to unfold at 6:21 pm Friday night when police received a 911 call about a stabbing on the 1900 block of Pacific Avenue. Officers found Umanzor suffering from multiple stab wounds to her torso.

Police and paramedics performed life-saving measures, but they were unsuccessful and the young mother succumbed to her injuries.

Police are asking anyone with information about Leon to phone their anonymous tip line at 510-577-3278.

In 2011 there were seven murders in San Leandro, including the outside a tattoo party in October. In 2010 four people were murdered in the city.
