Police are looking for 19-year-old Henry Leon of Oakland who allegedly stabbed 15-year-old Myrna Umanzor to death Friday night in San Leandro’s first murder of the year.
Authorities say Leon fathered a nine-month-old child with Umanzor, who was a freshman at San Leandro High School.
Police say Leon is driving a dark blue, 2004 Cadillac Escalade with black rims and California license plate 5SBE608.
The tragedy began to unfold at 6:21 pm Friday night when police received a 911 call about a stabbing on the 1900 block of Pacific Avenue. Officers found Umanzor suffering from multiple stab wounds to her torso.
Police and paramedics performed life-saving measures, but they were unsuccessful and the young mother succumbed to her injuries.
Police are asking anyone with information about Leon to phone their anonymous tip line at 510-577-3278.
In 2011 there were seven murders in San Leandro, including the outside a tattoo party in October. In 2010 four people were murdered in the city.
